A painted tiger face can finish a costume, while nail stickers or a temporary tattoo can add a ready-made detail when there isn't time for brushes and colour mixing. Our kids makeup range includes Oh Flossy sets and accessories, Little Brian face-paint sticks, Djeco palettes and Avenir stickers and tattoos for different kinds of creative setup.
The activity comes first. Freehand kids face paint gives more room to invent a design; stencils, stickers and tattoos make the shape more defined from the beginning.
A face-paint palette suits an activity where mixing colours and painting details are part of the fun. Paint sticks can reduce the number of separate tools needed, while glitter adds another finish when the individual product instructions allow it.
Nail stickers and temporary tattoos are quicker to place than a freehand design. They offer less room to change the shape, but they can suit a shorter activity or become one small part of a larger costume.
My Playroom's inclusive approach keeps the choice centred on colour, character and what the child wants to create, not a boys' or girls' label.
Freehand colour allows each face or pattern to be different. It also asks for more application time and brings brushes, stencils or clean-up into the setup. A stencil sits between freehand and ready-made: it provides a repeatable shape while leaving colour and placement open.
A sticker or tattoo supplies the finished illustration, which makes the design quicker to begin. Placement, wear and removal still follow the individual product instructions, and products intended for one area should not be assumed suitable for another.
For painting and making that doesn't involve cosmetic or body application, browse kids art and craft. When the costume or mask is the main purchase, kids dress-up costumes provide the character first, with face decoration as an optional detail.
A larger kids make up set can bring more colours and tools into one purchase, but it also means more pieces to organise and clean. Smaller sets or single-format products keep the activity more focused.
