Toy Baskets

An open toy basket lets a child see the scarves, blocks or soft toys waiting inside and carry the whole group to where the play is happening. It does not hide the collection; it gives a selected group of materials a clear, movable home.

What should an open toy storage basket hold?

Open toy storage keeps selected materials visible and reachable. A shallow toy storage basket suits pieces that need to be seen at a glance, while a deeper basket can contain scarves or larger soft items. Very small loose parts may disappear beneath one another in a deep container, making a divided tray or smaller bowl more useful.

Handles change how a basket moves

A handled playroom basket can travel from shelf to mat as one activity. This is useful for a rotating set of blocks, figures or art materials. Check that the handle leaves enough opening for the contents and that the basket is not too wide for its shelf. A child carrying the basket also needs a clear route and an appropriate load.

Storage basket or toy box?

A storage basket offers quick access and makes the contents easier to scan. A toy box adds a lid and can keep one defined set together, but hides what is inside. Neither is automatically tidier: the better format follows the type of toy, the available shelf space and how often the set is used.

Use a kids storage basket as part of rotation
