A plush character can sit beside a favourite book, travel in a bag or become the quiet audience for a newly invented story. The role changes with the toy: a small storybook figure is easy to move through a scene, while a large animal becomes part of the room itself.
At My Playroom, we see soft toys as characters and companions for open-ended play, not simply decorative gifts. Our plush range includes recognisable book characters, animals, weighted formats and very different sizes. Looking at how the toy will be held, carried, displayed or included in a story gives a more useful starting point than choosing by animal name alone.
The 26 cm Very Hungry Caterpillar is a flexible character for following a story or adding to a pretend scene. Paddington with Boots is a different shape: the 22 cm bear stands upright on its boots and wears the recognisable blue coat and red hat. Its appeal includes the costume and standing form, not simply a soft body.
Those details are a useful way to compare storybook plush toys. A character that fits easily in a bag can travel between activities, while a larger animal may work better as part of a room setup. Do not treat weight as a promise of better sleep, focus or emotional regulation. For infants, soft toys should stay out of the sleep space, regardless of how soft or small they appear.
Both the 26 cm Caterpillar and 22 cm Paddington are listed as surface washable. That is different from putting the whole toy in a washing machine. If a character will be carried often, its cleaning method is worth considering alongside its size and costume details.
A small plush toy can travel with a book or fit into a day bag. Large plushies may function more as a room companion and need a permanent place.
